Brighton CCA

A new centre for
contemporary arts at the
University of Brighton

This event is part of Lloyd Corporation

Lloyd Corporation, Brighton CCA, 2022

One never knows how long these things have actually been there for, placing them somewhere between alive and obsolete, trash or treasure, transient but enduring, trade and collection, commodities or gifts; and back again.

Join artists Lloyd Corporation for an afternoon rummaging through their exhibition. We invite you to take a closer, hands-on look at the found objects salvaged from abandoned storages, charity stores, online auctions and disposal sites. Picking out, handling and examining objects together, we will consider their stories and circulations, the emotional connections we make to things and the politics and ethics at play in our possessions.

In addition to the objects in the exhibition, the artists will bring along their large collection of found street notices, peeled off street furniture in different cities across the world.

This is part of a programme of events that respond to Today’s gift is tomorrow’s commodity. Yesterday’s commodity is tomorrow’s found art object. Today’s art object is tomorrow’s junk. And yesterday’s junk is tomorrow’s heirloom by Lloyd Corporation.

The workshop will take place in person at Brighton CCA, University of Brighton, 58 – 67 Grand Parade, BN2 0JY. Free to attend, limited spaces so please book via button above. We will be providing  refreshments.

Please email Polly Wright (Programme Producer) with any questions.
