Expanding Dialogues is a site for cross disciplinary research and collaboration across and beyond the University of Brighton. Started with a collaboration with School of Advanced Engineering, Brighton Racing Motors and Brighton CCA. Starting with a collaboration between the Advanced Engineering Centre, Creative Futures, the Formula Student team of Brighton Racing Motors, and the School of Computing Engineering and Mathematics the programme will build on examples of ground-breaking collaborations between arts, industry and education such as the Artists’ Placement Group and the seminal 1967 project in New York, Experiments in Art and Technology.
Expanding Dialogues focuses on facilitating trust and interaction across disciplines over the long term, creating a framework for cross disciplinary learning and dialogue between researchers, students and practicing artists, exploring shared research interests, approaches to problem solving and creative collaborations.
Below you and find information about this first collaboration with an introductory film from the Brighton CCA programme team and studio visits with both the participating artists – Savinder Bual and Rachael Champion. This first pilot project will comprise a series of conversations and workshops between staff and students at the University of Brighton. The results of these interactions will be recorded here with each artist producing a trace of the project which will also be shared here. Expanding Dialogues is a project developing over the long term so if you’re interested to know more please check back here to see how the conversation develops or get in touch with the Brighton CCA.
