Brighton CCA

A new centre for
contemporary arts at the
University of Brighton

This event is part of Make it Work

This is part of a series of lunchtime podcasts for which artists and curators discuss how they’ve developed their creative communities with Ben Roberts, Artistic Director Brighton CCA.

Founded in 2013 by Croydon locals, Turf Projects is the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in Croydon, South London. Turf has supported the work of over 400 artists to date through a programme of free public exhibitions, workshops and events.

Jhunik Sarkar is an Illustrator and Arts Educator. Born in Leicester as the second generation of Indian parents from Kolkata, India. She studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Norwich School of Art & Design. Graduating from Central St Martins in 2005 with an MA in Communication Design, she continued her work in a freelance capacity as an Illustrator whilst working in various creative roles as a producer and workshop leader. Working closely with disabled artists over the last five years has led me to my current role at Turf Projects as Head of Community and Accessibility.
