Brighton CCA

A new centre for
contemporary arts at the
University of Brighton

This event is part of Make it Work

Flo Brooks hosted a studio visit online ahead of his upcoming exhibition at Brighton CCA.

Brooks’ practice encompasses painting, collage, publishing and social engagement. Based between Brighton and the South-West, his output over the last 3 years has focused on personal experiences and encounters within the healthcare system as he began a process of gender transition. Brooks’ extraordinary works, created through a process of collage using found and archival images which are then transcribed into painting, have a strong graphic quality which speak powerfully of this often under represented subject matter and experience.

Recent exhibitions include CONDO, Project Native Informant, London (2020), ‘Kiss My Genders’, Hayward Gallery, London (2019), ‘Scrubbers’, Project Native Informant, London (2018) and ‘Is now a good time?’, Cubitt Gallery, London (2017).
