Ever imagined building your ideal home? Now’s your chance!
Join this collaborative workshop and build a whole (model) house or a utopian facade. To start with, artist and researcher Jo Bell will frame the workshop by introducing her PhD research which is based on a site in Brighton. Artist Michael Olden will then facilitate model making for the group whilst recent MA Fine Art graduate Bobby Higginson will be in charge of town planning and landscape surveying.
Materials provided include cardboard, glue, craft knives, paint. Attendees are welcome to bring other resources of their choice.
Participants do not need to have any prior experience of model making to take part.
To sign-up please email Polly Wright, P.Wright@brighton.ac.uk. You are also welcome to drop in during the workshop to find out more.

This is part of the next edition of COMMUNAL, taking place at Dorset Place, September 2022. Responding to the needs of Brighton’ creative communities we are offering our project space as a resource for practitioners who might benefit from a free space to trial ideas, present work or hold events. Alongside a curated programme, we’re inviting proposals from artists and creative groups to make use of the space for up to three days.

Begun in 2019 the COMMUNAL Dialogues programme uses online and in person gallery space as a site for collaboration, activity, and experimentation. The programme is an ongoing process of sharing resources and networks aimed at building a more sustainable creative ecology in Brighton and a model for supporting our community over the long term. Each edition of COMMUNAL centres on a programme of activity at Brighton CCA underpinned with online materials and documentation on our website.
