The Streets Where Foxes Hide, Reinis Lismanis
Niagara Falls Projects is pleased to present its first off-site exhibition with Reinis Lismanis, guest curated by Tom Laver. The Streets Where Foxes Hide is an exhibition of new mixed-media works drawing upon a myriad of sources including the artist’s everyday, urban environment and the studio, recent politics, and conventions of aesthetics. The context of photography remains important to Lismanis’ practice; a medium arguably unique in the extent of its straddling of art and non-art spheres. The works presented bear the marks of their own creation, employing recycling, fragmentation, and reflexivity to draw attention to their authorial, ontological and practical boundaries. In explicating margins, Lismanis aims to position his work within a wider context of politically and technologically conditioned activities.
