Join us for this online talk with Dr Toby Lovat, University of Brighton.
Toby’s academic research and expertise is wide ranging. While my PhD work focused on epistemology and metaphysics in Kant’s theoretical philosophy, I have research interests in German Idealism, Neo-Kantianism, the Frankfurt School, Critical Realism, Speculative Realism, Marxist political economy and social theory, post-foundational political theory, structuralism and post-structuralism, and the historical and ideological roots of liberalism and conservatism.
This is part of a programme of events that respond to Today’s gift is tomorrow’s commodity. Yesterday’s commodity is tomorrow’s found art object. Today’s art object is tomorrow’s junk. And yesterday’s junk is tomorrow’s heirloom by Lloyd Corporation.
